I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I just got a 79’ GS750 in parts, (for the great price of free !) as I'm going thought it I have a question for you in the know, did the 79’ have a TSCC or 16 valve engine ???
The CLYMER manual I have states that the 79’ should have an 8 valve engine.
If not a 79’ is there anyway to tell what year the engine is ???
And what type ???
Any information would be appreciated..

'79 is an eight valve engine. Kickstarter, round cam end caps, clutch mechanism on the left side countershaft cover. Better engines than the '80 - '82 version 750.

The first of the '80 models were made in '79, but they would be called '80s, not '79s.

Look at the ends of the cams, at the covers. If they are shiny and round, you have an 8-valve '79 engine.

If you have somewhat rectangular covers, you have an early '80 16-valve TSCC engine.

.

With the cylinder head off, it is incredibly obvious which engine that you have. 2 valve reliefs or 4 per piston? Also, if the cam cover is off, you would have rocker arms instead of cam over buckets.

Still doesn't know what the rest of the bike is, I think that was his original question.

Is the tail piece a duck bill or flat and tapered into the lens?

will try to get some pic's up tomorrow
the engine numbers are GS75X-1055 if that helps

So it is a 1980 bike ??
Well, the frame, forks and gas tank shown in those pictures are '80/'81, we can only assume that the engine is, as well.

Is there any way to tell the exact year and type of engine I have ???, I do want to get a new exhaust system for it , and I don?t want to end up with a big set of paper weights !!!
P.S. Thank you for any information.

P.S.S. the data plate on the frame says its a 79' ???????

I believe your question was answered by Steve in post #3 highlighted here.I can't think of any vehicle manufacturer that doesn't start a model year's production run in the year before.Your early engine# would say it's an early run 80.

To tell the type of engine, it might, just might, be helpful to see a picture of, well, the engine?

I got this bike in parts so here are pics of the engine in parts !?!?
cant bitch, for i got the bike for FREE !! "just get it out of here !"
