If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

First post ever for a new GS owner! Last Fall I purchased a 81 gs750L with only 8,000kms on it. I've noticed everyone is doing up the 1100's but I'd like some advice on getting some more kick(power) out of the 750. not sure how far I want to take it yet but I'd like some ideas about what you can do to these engines and roughly how much of a difference the mods will make. I heard somewhere that with some tuning you can get a 750 to be a very agresive bike. Any help would be great.
thanks

Cheaper side (but not cheap) 4-1 pipe, K&N pods and a Dynojet stage3 jetting kit.

More money; High lift cams, ported head and a Wiseco big bore kit.

Talk to these people. They WILL make your bike go fast.http://gszone.biz/

any kind of Idea what pipes jets and pods would do for the hp or tourque #'s? I think a stock 81 750 has about 63hp (please correct if I'm wrong)? with these mods any rough guess? At the GS zone site just emal the tech guy?

According to these folks the 1981 factory numbers are 79 hp.

GSX750EX (E2) had almost the same specifications as the first model. The handlebar width was changed from 800 mm to 775 mm and the fuel tank was redesigned and its volume increased from 19 to 24 liter.

then I see this:

I have given the European unrestricted power figures for all of the models on this page. The Japanese model had 69 hp/ 8.500 rpm, 6,2 kg-m/ 7.000 rpm.

Sorry

Vance and Hines 4-1 pipe.
K&N pods
Dynojet jetting kit

As for HP I don't know. I do know the poweband becomes wicked with these mods. Getting the idle and take off jetted right can be a pain though.

Well when I had my GS750 I bought a Yoshimura 850 kit to try out first. This increased the midrange torque. Then I bought stage 1 road and track cams.

Depending on what exhaust system I had on (standard GS or modfied Devil 4-1). With GS it gave it a narrow but high power band. It was pretty docile below 6000, then power came in with a surge at 6000 rpm and you had to be careful.

With 4-1 it was more tractable and easier to ride. :-D

available

are 4-1 pipes available for a 81 750 or does a guy have to modify them? also define modify.... are the exuast holes lined up?.... does a guy just have to build a bracket for the rear?
thanks

where?

where?

where are people buying these aftermarket cams etc for these old GS bikes? I only run into stuff for new bikes

I modified my Devil because I didn't like the baffle arrangement, it didn't have one. I made a stainless steel can and lined it with asbestos rope. I tried a friends Yoshimura 4-1 but that didn't appear to make no difference to the power output.

I forget the year change but is the 81 a 8 valve or 16 valve? I would have thought that you could get 4-1 for an 81 model. :-D
