A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm sorta looking for 4-1 or 4-2 exhaust for my g/f's 77 GS-550, seems all I could find was chrome..not what we're looking for and it seems silly to pay to have it painted. The stock exhaust is in ok shape, but there are some small holes in each collector and it's a bit beaten up.

I'm tempted to get black header paint, clean and scuff the chrome and just paint it ;-).. hrm, jb-weld the holes.. I know that'd hold up pretty well (assuming I get the rust cleared off well enough)..

Just thought I'd check and see if anybody knows anything that's available...

I've got a Mac 4 into 1 Black ceramic coated exhaust. The ceramic coating is holding up well. Much better than paint would.

Where did you find it though? I had a Mac on an '83 KZ-750 and thought it was pretty well made for the money. I checked dennis kirk and all they listed was chrome last I looked...arg....

I found mine on Ebay. I only paid $77 plus shipping, and it was brand new. I guess I was just lucky.

I have a 4-1 exhaust in black. its not ceramic coated though, i'm going to sandblast it and then paint it black again with grill paint. Just watch E-bay.

Just though, 4-1 would probably require removal of center stand... I'd hate to lose that (just love those things ;-).

Perhaps I'll try to fix up the old exhaust..

Thanks for all the help!

I picked up an unknown but probably MAC, chrome but rusty, 4-into-1 header on eBay for $45, had it sandblasted for $50, painted it flat black with Rustoleum Bar-B-Q paint, and then put a Kerker meg on it. Looks great. I like the black head pipes with the chrome meg.

My bike is a '78 GS550 I set up with ACE or Clubman bars and Dynatech ignition. I have Bridgestone S11 rubber ( with tubes). The stock chrome mufflers look great on the outside-the baffles are rusted out on the inside. I love the sound , and it breathes so well that it pulls in 6th gear from 25 mph up to 100 mph. I did go one tooth more on the engine sprocket. And yes JB-WELD plugs up the holes and HOLDS !
Good luck-
