So I picked this up for a 100 bucks no title.
As you can see I took off the rear and test fitted the 05-06 gsxr 1000 rear on it ASAP. Then I stepped back and said well it's not gonna be a 2 seater and I don't think the PO had it ether. So I said let me see how much I can take off Well let's say u can take off a lot. So I had read on here how ppl got bushings made or drilled out or welded in to make room or modify the frame. Since at the moment I didn't have a welder and my little mind said the hell with it just cut and grind well that's what I did lol. well that was fun next thing was the front forks. Well gonna have to wait for my order from all ball bearing.

Well **** this little guy is heavy damn.

But I got him out and then took a look at the valve specs
there all with in specs so gonna leave them to be. That's it for now.

Ozman I'm going to use the swing arm off a 05 gsxr 1000. And weld in a mono shock. As of right now I got a 195/55 r17 ct2 on there but I think I'm gonna swap that out. Got these in the mail

Got them on right away.

So I had asked if I could leave this off

And if I could take this off the fly wheel

But I was told no. Hmmmmm idk. So I'm gonna take a chance and see what happenes. So today was grinding day removed all the tabs some of the rear. Took off the side stand. Now it's tabless. I'm gonna be using the gs1100 tank since it's bigger and it's got a fuel gauge. This is on the next order list

Nice. Gonna follow this. I wanted to go with a gsxr front and rear suspension but all I found around me were bent front tubes.

Morrison yea I've been looking for a while I got the forks and rear shock off a 07-08 1000. Even tho the guy told me there where off an 05-06. But I got them for 150 bucks so can't complain. But they do need new seals. Which is ok I would have did them anyways. The front bearings if you need them are from all balls bearing part number 99-3515-5 and you will need to of them one upper one lower. Tomorrow I'll take pic of how to do it.

Ozman so I finished the rear swing arm. Here's what I did to make it work. In order to get it to fit with out speacial bushing made up. I measured the with of the gsxr swingarm with the bushings on it. Turns out that it's an 1/8 to long. But the frame has on both side a welded center hole. Or it's own bushing so I marked and cut off the 1/16 on both side to give me the room. Then the new swing arm went in the a glove. I reused the inner bushings of the old wheel and the long bolt. So I turn it has the old setup and the new one as well. I will get pic up once I get some more time on it to remove and take pic.

Yea I stay looking you just never no.

whats your game plan for rear suspension ?

ozman

Ok so as promised here some pic for ya. On the bottom you have the gs swing arm bolt. Next the inner bushings followed by the gsxr bushing.

Here it's all together

Here's where I cut/grinded on both sides the 1/8 well half which is 1/16 on each side.

Now it's a glove fit or fits like a glove lol.

Well that's how I did it I also took some pic of the front as well. Ok so

Love the project! Its good to see more resto-mods.

Morrison, keep an eye on ebay. Save searches on ebay and it will notify you when things pop up. Also look for busa/TL forks, seem to be easier to find.

Ok so here's how the front went on its easy really. First thing is to remove the old race way. I put a small screw driver and started walking it out.

Then put the new one in.

I put the new washer and tapped it in nice and gently. Just tap around till it's sits all the way down. Like so

Then before you put the new bearing in you gonna have to pack it with grease which I don't have. So that's all for now.

Oh here's the bottom bearing

Ok so here's an update sorry been busy work fam you no LIFE. Lol.

I got the rear tail and light where I wanna it to go. What do you guys think? Also this is going to be converted to LEDs soon. Which will have parking brake and trun signals built in..

I'll tasks some more pics tomorow.

Looking good man, PM me if you want to sell that tank.

What is your plan to line up the chain? That is a 6in rear rim, likely going to have to notch the frame I think?

Not gonna happen. Sorry. As far as the chain goes.... Well I'm gonna go with a 520 chain setup. And if I have to mill down the sprocket carrier. But I won't no till I get there. I have spoke to Richard form JT Sprockets and he has given me some good advice. So I'll post some pic when I get there.
