A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Pictures of the skunk tail are below. After digging it out today, I recall why I bought it.... it is as pictured, less the plastic chrome trim around the back:

Make me an offer, and I won't refuse it!

Should have a roller soon. I need to do something with the wheels as there ok but need to be cleaned up better. I think I'm going to have to disassemble them and re spoke.

Worked on the brake setup yesterday. Just did a dry setup for the front and rear brakes. Put the rear wheel on as well. Ignore the rear shocks. I'm either going to get new ones, or just replace the springs. Probably should just get new one. I got a bunch of small pieces that I need to paint, but it's like 10 degree out. I use a plug in heater in my garage that might warm it up to about 50. Too cold to paint.

Couldn't look at the rims anymore. The front wasn't bad, but the rear looks like crap. The only way I can really clean them up it to break them down. I've never re-laced a rim before so I took a ton of pictures and I'm taking my time. I found a few good sites on the web as well. I soaked the ends in WD-40 and was able to loosen all the front spoke with out any snapping. I haven't tried the rear spokes yet.

These spokes should clean up nicely, but I'm thinking I should get new spokes.

Front

I was told here that WD-40 is NOT penetrating oil,I found out they where right.Do yourself a favor and get some real penetrating oil.I like a Canadian product Lloyds Movitt but PB Blaster is almost as good.

That may be true about WD 40, but I was able to loosen all the spokes on both wheels without breaking any of them. Now begins the clean up. The wire wheel will make everything clean but I think I'll need some sort of clear coat so the spoke don't rust.

Good for you!Only spoke wheels I took apart was on my defunked 86 KDX project. They where a nightmare to get off, front was worse than the rear.Ended up cutting off most of the fronts spokes they where so bad!

The GS spokes are cad plated and that wears off over time

Try buffing up a couple of them and see what the results are

You'll likely need to replace them if they're rusty

MikesXS carries a set that fits

I'd replace the wheel bearing while you're in there, cheap from your local bearing store

Still working on the rear wheel. I've put at lease 4 hours into it starting with wire wheelin all the spokes, nipples, hub, and rim. Did the same over again with the buffing wheel. Spokes look like new, hub looks pretty good, and rim is finally starting to shine. Picked up a wheel balancer to help with truing the rim. I should have my new bearings tomorrow and then I'll start rebuilding the rim.

Hard to see the spokes but they shined up nicely

Been a while since I've updated this. I'll drop some pics, cuz everyone loves pics. Engine is back in after I had the top end rebuilt. I let the pros do that and I reinstalled with new gaskets. Slowly getting her back together, but hope to get her running soon.

Installed the chain today.
