Hey whats up guys as the up coming winter is nearing i am looking into upgrades and mods and
Getting the bike to were i want it to be.

1 It is just a tad too tall for me and am wanting to
Lower it maybe an inch or half an inch im not wanting to make the ride ability worse so if
There is a way to do that let me know.

2. I have also seen a couple of threads about gsxr conversion for the front end and was
Wondering if that would be a better way to upgrade and lower it.

3 i would also like to do the rear swing arm conversion

I am looking for everyones knowledge and insite into doing these mods
My bike is a 78 gs 1000c
And parts lists if anyone has them

You must have short legs. Here are some free things you can try before taking anything apart. You can drop the forks in the tree for an 1"-1 1/2" without much change in handling and put the rear shocks to their softest preload position if you haven't tried that yet. if you still want to go lower, you can replace the stock spacer in the forks with a shorter one made out of PVC Schedule 40 tubing and find a 11 or 12" rear shocks.

Not sure what swingarm conversion you are referring to but the '81-'83 GS1100 swingarm is a common upgrade.
A swap to u.s.d. forks from an early '90s Gixxer and the accompanying 17" wheels will lower your bike.
There are tons of threads on these changes.
Cut the foam in your seat.

Yea thats the swing arm upgrade i was talking about will the gs1100 swingarm just bolt up to the gs1000 frame and will the gixxer front end just bolt up too

And will i be able to use the stock wheels with both of the upgrades i have the wire wheels

Yes, the swing arm will just bolt right on and yes you can still use the stock wheels.

What are you trying to flat foot the thing with both feet at once? These are not tall bikes.

I'm 5'8" and can almost flat foot GS1000. Even with the 1/2" extended shocks & taller / harder seat I have I can still firmly get the balls of my feet on the ground....

Do you need some higher rise bars too? :lol:

If you care about handling at all I would not put the rear shock at the softest setting, instead; get a shorter shock or smaller rear wheel (17").
Also, a Modern USD front fork would probably lower the front end, just measure.
