A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. Hi all.Have spent last two evenings stripping the wiring loom from my 79 gs750.Over 30 years of gunk plastered all over it.Will no doubt replace all with new come the rebuilding stage.Just trying to figure out what the unit on under side of battery tray is?Have rectifier on side of battery tray which is also connected to the one below??????any advice much appreciated:confused:

Your bike has separate regulator and rectifier. The voltage regulator is under side at battery box and the rectifier is on the electrical bracket next to the fuse panel.

In the first thread you posted here Basscliff provided his megawelcome. http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=195197

Inside Cliff's post you will find many links to information to help you fix your bike. For one, to a service manual. Inside that you will learn that your bike has a separate regulator and rectifier.

You can also look in the parts fishe showing similar info on the separate charging system parts. http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

There is tons of information at your disposal to help guide you on your repair project.

The Advanced Search feature here will allow you to mine literally thousands of posts here with information to answer just about every question you could possibly have.

Good luck

:You can update with a new all in one unit. Many aftermarket options available as well as Shindengen or Compufire units.

thanks for the offer.going to try and replace all the wiring as im going to reposition battery under hump of seat unit.was also thinking about doing away with the wiring for the gear indicator position.will hopefully be able to upgrade to a new more modern fusebox and do away with the old style of glass fuses.
