A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Scored this bike running, but not well for $400 bones. Cleaned the carbs, put fresh gas in it, and it runs like a top. I've always loved bobbers so i figured what the heck, its only 400 right?? Was bored tonight so i figured it was as good a night as any to start.

Heres a before, I did put the ape hangers on the bike when i got it.

Pile of "extra" parts. I even scored a poncho from the PO which he left in the rear fender box....

Here is a picture of the frame hacked off!! My tube should be in tomorrow so hopefully i'll have more updates...

Ya might need some of the brackets on the cut off junk. Dont throw the stuff away yet! I cut the bracket for the rear brake line off of the junk and weld it in place on my rigid. Theres some good stuff there you can re-use. What amazed me was how thin walled the stock tubing is. Cheaply manufactured forsure.

I'm from Brazil, IN. I didnt get any sleep last night. I just layed there and thought of some kewl details to add to the bike. I was wondering what to do with the rear brake light mechanism. You say you just cut the bracket from the stock frame and welded it to your hardtail? I know i know i cut up a perfectly good bike....sorry

ddhayward312 that should look pretty cool, what type of bars are going on it?

Mount the rear brake caliper as it was before you started bobbing it. A lot of guys like to mount it behind and under the frame if there is room. It leaves a cleaner look when youre done and doest effect the brakes ability to stop the bike.Just make sure you have the contact points for the pads the same as they were.

Brake light switch was remounted inside the frame rails by the master cylinder. I used the stock mount and just cleaned it up and rewelded it.

Made a little headway this weekend...Got the main tubes for the hardtail notched and welded up. I dropped the bike until the swingarm was level with the ground. Intially I was going to run a sportster tank, but i kinda like the looks of the stocker. I was kinda thinking of attempting to dish the sides alittle. Whats everything think? Also, should i grind the welds smooth?? Or just leave them as is?

At the shaft I decided to cut the coilover bosses off and weld them on. Figured it would give it a little cushion.

Come off youre hardtail upper tubes. Do fender struts. just remember to give no less than an inch to allow for tire swell and such. I like to use a section of large dia. garden hose for the offset. And if you run a strond enough set of struts on it, you can allow for a P-Pad too. Looking good.
