79' GS550e Choke tube part sourcing issue, please help

I purchased a 79' Suzuki GS550e a few months back. It had been sitting in a barn for 12 years supposedly before the previous owner got his mitts on it. He told me that he rebuilt the carburetors before he sold it to me...

I pulled off the carburetors in order to find a vacuum leak and i decided to inspect the validity of his claim of the carb rebuild. When i popped open the float bowls I found this little guy. I'm pretty sure its a choke tube that looked to be snapped off and the end had been split because he tried to beat it back in with a hammer. Does anybody know of a source where I can get this part? Bikebandit and suzukiparts don't seem to show it in their exploded diagrams...BTW here is my bike after a clean and polish, that was before I pulled it to pieces.

You're not going to find that as a stand alone part new. The body assembly included that already pressed in. You're going to have to either fabricate something or replace the body.

I recently replaced some similar tubes that are pressed into the float bowls on some Keihin's. You should be able to do the same with those tubes.

Your bike looks to be in great shape. Why have you pulled it to pieces?

Judging by the PO's "work" on the bike, I'd be checking every nut and bolt

That tube picks up gas for the "choke"

Do the other 3 carbs have this tube?

I had a hunting idle. So I orded the intake boots and gaskets. I needed to pull the carburators anyway. I had let the bike sit while my family and I flew home for vacation for 10 days. I came back to a motorcycle that wouldn't start or even fire. My intention was to pull the carburators to replace all the o-rings as I just rebuilt the petcock and believed the the carburator was flooded after sitting. I just replaced the entire ignition system...so I was doubtful that had anything to do with it.

The other 3 carburetors have the tube and the choke seemed to work fine before the bike sat for a week and change. I just dislike know broken and rigged parts on any of my machines...plus I have nothing but time on my hands. I'm going to completely break down the 4 carbs and do a parts soak and replace all the rubber.

Excellent idea. And I was thinking you had the bike down to the frame or something, not just having the carbs off. 'Big T' has a good point about checking the bike over, sounds like you have the time and inclination.
