    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

FWIW, compared to the old fashioned wet acid batteries, modern AGM batteries work extremely well (much higher output), they don't leak acid, and they last much longer. I put a $65 Deka (American made) battery in my 1100e and it spins gonzo. The $60 MotoBatt in my son's 550 also works extremely well. You can see what I chose to buy instead of the expensive high-tech battery.
 
i just bought one, the 12 cell version. gotta wait for it to come from the states but that gives me time to rip out all the underseat crap and redesign it all ready for the new battery. the dimensions are in the listing, they are tiny compared to the standard battery

I just installed the 8 cell version, that is rated at 275CCA. The lead acid battery in the bike was rated at 250CCA, and weighed 8.75 pounds (measured by my UPS digital scale). The Ballistic weighs a whopping 1.85 pounds - thats right, 30 whole ounces! Nearly a 7 pound savings, and this battery could be mounted in any direction possible.

It spins the bike faster than the lead acid battery, but admittedly - the bike is still slightly warm. I just zip tied it to the old battery tray for now, but I will be making a new aluminum tray that will mount in the same three holes the stock tray mounts to. Here's a crappy cell phone pic:

Keep in mind - these batteries have some good points and bad. Extremely light and they hold a charge for a full year, only losing 10 percent of their original charge in that time. If they drop below 6 volts, they are done for. I am not sure what the voltage would drop to if you had trouble starting the bike and ran it too long, but I will report whatever findings I have as time goes on.
 
I have been considering buying one of these and hiding it under my seat for my cafe project.. Very interested to hear about performance issues and do u trickle charge this or do u need a special charger since its litheum ion like power tool batteries?
 
It arrives fully charged, and as long as you don't have an electrical draw on your bike, the battery will remain fully charged - only losing 10 percent of it's charge in a 12 month period. Ballistic does recommend a special charger for them, but they don't seem to be affected by the charging systems in motorcycles.
 
I was actually contiplating buying the cells from a123 and building my own pack so I could lay them flat in a row.
