DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Is the 1980 GSX250E fuel petcock the same as the 1980 GS250T fuel petcock? The GSX250 is hard for me to find information on, and parts for that matter, unlike the GS250T. From what I have read the engine/frame/carbs are all the same, so those parts can be ordered easily, but the tank is very different looking and missing the fuel petcock. I wanted to find out if I can order an OEM GS250T fuel petcock, or how I would go about measuring the tank for an aftermarket fuel petcock if they are different. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

Phil, I can only see an '82 GSX250 over on www.cmsnl.com. No listing of an '80 model.

OEM part number is 44300-45470, superseded by 44300-45471, so the part is different.

That doesn't mean it won't fit though and you would have to measure the distance between the mounting holes to see if it would fit. I would think the opening would have to be measured also.

It is available from Boulevard for $71.45 which is quite cheap :)

Awesome, thanks! That is the first parts fiche I have seen for any of the early 80's GSX250's, all I could find were GS (no X). Everything looks like the bike I have so I believe that will be the correct petcock but I will go out and measure to make sure.

Picked up the 1980 GSX250E yesterday. No front brake (mc or caliper), headlight and petcock but otherwise everything is there and in good shape, albeit dirty and corroded. I'll probably just tack it on to my GS250 rebuild thread as I work on it. I'll post some photos soon and some info on it.

Good stuff Phil.

Usually if it's a Canadian or European spec GSX and you can't find it on Alpha Sports or Boulevard or whatever it'll be on CMSNL instead.
