A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm not sure that I'm going to use a fork brace. These are '82 Katana forks and they are much stiffer and better dampening than the stock forks. I've already rode the bike up in the mountains a few times, pushing it pretty hard (~50 m.p.h. around 30 m.p.h. curves) and I don't feel any fork flex or vagueness.

I was wondering how your little battery is holding up? Can you put the battery tender on it? How would you jump start your bike if you had to or charge it if the battery tender does not work? I really like the idea of that battery and I have the luxury of a kickstart for back up, but was very curious about the charging and possible jumpstarting of your battery. MY wife may kill me if I go and spend the money on rewiring the bike to put everything up under the gas tank but man that is so cool.

The battery has been working out great! The starter turns over very fast and there is no dimming of the headlight at idle like the stock battery did.

It would be a little difficult to jump the bike as it is right now since I have everything pretty much tucked under the tank and there is a plate that doesn't give you enough room to get your fingers up to the connector.

I could just make a small jump wire that stays connected and has a cap for when it isn't used, might be a smart idea. I could use that to jump or charge the battery without having to take the tank off.

I'm getting errors on the pics from flickr... Are they still available? I'd love to be able to see how the build progressed. Thanks!

I've got a Tarozzi fork brace on my '78 550. Very nice, and fits over the stock fender, but I'm selling it to trade up to another GS. See my "for sale" post.
