    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

'81 1100E fork vs. 82 750E?

I picked up a 1100E carcass today, went way too far and spent too much but it had some parts I needed, namely a really good seat pan.

Anyway, I was checking it out after I got it home and obviously it doesn't have the anti-dive mechanism of my 82 GS750E, but the front wheel mounting is forward and up on the fork tubes, not like the 750E where it's mounted at the very bottom.

Is there any benefit to using the complete assembly from the 1100E? I need to either rebuild the 750 (leaky seals) or replace it, and it would be easy to swap the whole unit. I believe the 1100E dampers are in good condition.

Any advice is appreciated!!

Your 750 forks, in THIS case, is a better part for you to use & fork seals are CHEAP. Now, if your fork tubes are rusted that's a different story! It's up to you. Equal parts, I rebuild the 750 forks. Ray.
 
Evidently the Suzuki Co. didn't like the idea of the leading front axel very good. They only used it on the "E" models for 2 years, then put the axel back where it should be. I think the "L" models used it a little longer, for the chopper look.
 
Thanks for the advice/info guys.

I'm curious as to how the leading axle would change the steering geometry and how the bike would handle compared with the stock mounting. Anyone have any comments on that aspect?
