A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Yep, I now have up to date radial tires front and rear. I lowered the front end which is why the forks stick up like that. Monk is correct, it speeds up the steering by changing the geomtry of the bike. I also raised the rear about an inch with the shocks. It handles great and is steady as a rock but i am sure that is more due to the wieght of the old bikes.

Still ligning up the sprockets and chain and trying to mitigate all other issues that go with that. I will post pictures of completion when i am done. thanks.

OK
Finally done with the rear wheel install. the 180 barely fits in all the places. The wheel fits easily in the stock swingarm but everything else is a pain in the ass. I finally got all the spaceing worked out and now it is good to go. I am sure the chain will rub some of my shock away and the inside frame rail but hey it all works and has passed the shakedown ride. I just have to get my damn brakes bled correctly.

Very nice!!!!
Moving the electricals under the seat ... is that simply a "regular sized" AGM battery on its side, or did you need to use a thinner battery?
Thanks!

Love your bike keep up the good work, you're making me want to sell my 550 to get something bigger like your bike

All
thanks for the good words. The bike hasn't been that bad to build. The battery is just the standard size gel on its side. It barely fits and I mean barely. I used the stock battery box and laid it on its side. The bike should be done and I have a 86mother gsxr to start building now.

is that the stock swingarm?

and if so, what were the reasons for not using the katana awing arm?

Doesn't sound like too much fun for the rivets holding the chain together.
Perhaps just spend the $1.00 on another top shock mount spacer instead?

It's a GS1100 swingarm. It's light, longer, and it's a pretty straight forward swap for most GS's.

Sbasso, what size chain are you using??
