Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

New bike to me. When I got it last week the lines from the carbs/tank were all disconnected.

Here is what I have:

1. Line from sending unit on tank. I assume this is just a drain?

2. Petcock has two connections. Main one then one on the backside. No lines on either.

3. Fuel line?? between carbs #2 and #3 mounted to an interlinking rail that runs on the very lower part of the carb bodies just above the fuel bowl lip. Does this go to the main connection on the petcock?

4. Line from a interconnecting rail between carbs #1 and #2. This rail is a little higher on the carb bodies than the previously mentioned one. Is this some type of vacuum line and does it go to the backside of the petcock???

Thanks!!!!!!! :D

Re: '81 GS750 Carb Connections

1. is a vent. It doesnt connect to anything.

2. The main, 5/16" large connection is fuel. 1/4" connection is vacuum.

3. Yes.

4. The vacuum fitting is on the side of the carb above the float bowl level.
Yes, connect the vacuum fitting on the carb to the 1/4" vacuum fitting
on the petcock.

Oops! Error on my part. After reading your post I went back out and looked a little closer. I found a 1/4" hookup on the top of the engine side spigot of the #2 carb. I presume this is the vacuum port that goes to the petcock?

There is also a line connected to a interconnecting rail between carbs #3 and #4 like the one between #1 and #2. Are these just vent lines?

This board and it's members is as awesome as the bikes it is dedicated too!

Yes, the 1/4" hookup on top of the #2 carb, engine side and beside the mixture screw is the vacuum hookup for the vacuum port on the petcock.

"There is also a line connected to a interconnecting rail between carbs #3 and #4 like the one between #1 and #2. Are these just vent lines?"................ Yes, they are vents and are to be open to atomsphere.
Most, just put a tube on the fittings and let the tube/line lay between the airbox and tranny like the battery vent line does.

Your the greatest! I will be able to take it for an afternoon spin tomorrow. I already know it runs but I am too embarassed to say how! Lets just say I had a big mess of gas and oil to clean up and leave it at that!

:D Many, many thanks!!!

Got the bike back together this afternoon and took it for a short ride due to the fact the battery wouldn't hold a very good charge. After having warmed it up in the driveway I rode around the block a few times. Then I went for a 5 mile ride to get an idea what she could do since I haven't really riden a motorcycle since '82. All I can say is what a rush! I am definitely going to restore this one! I can't wait to get my ES running (waiting on parts).

The carbs need some work. It won't idle and doesn't run so good under 2500 rpm. At around 3000 rpm it really comes alive! I'm going to pick up a battery later this week and hopefully get the carb problem worked out.
