A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Can anyone tell me what the voltage should be with bike running around 5000rpm with headlight on and off. Mine is charging with light off @ 14.4v when light is turned on voltage drops to 13.5v then if I turn on my spot lights it drops to 12.4v. which doesn't seem to be high enough to keep battery charged. I have replaced the stator and regulator/rectifier. Or is there a heavy duty stator available that produces more power?

The voltages should be 14.5V but without knowing what you put on the bike (R/R) nor what lights and their draws are we wouldn't know what else to expect. And no there is no higher output charging system. Your best bet is to reduce loads using LEDs

I used the stator papers from this web site and found both stator and R/R to be bad. I replaced them with a new aftermarket stator and new aftermarket R/R both are supposedly OEM replacements. But why would voltage at battery drop close to 1 volt by just turning on the stock headlight? I understand this bike has a day and night charging system. Is it possible it is a wiring issue in the night part of the system? Or maybe a weak battery? The spot lights are H1 35 watt bulbs and provide great lighting. I really would hate to change them. They work fine on my 97 Honda Shadow so I got the same ones for this bike.

You apparently did not do the Quick Test, so you're asking bunch of questions that would likely be answered by those results.
Also based on your OEM replacement selections for R/R you did not read GS Stator also in my signature.
The only big mysteries are what you did not how the system works.

Yes, do the Quick Test. Also, rewire the charging system so the stator feeds directly into the R/R, otherwise your harness could melt down.

Yea that is in GS Charging Health is my signature as well. Did not want to overload the Op :)
