The 1982 GS 1100E I just purchased is missing the underseat air box. The box attached to the card is still present leaving one large hole under the seat cavity.
The guy I bought the bike from said he jetted the carbs and the bike has a V&H 4 to 1 exhaust.
Right now there is no filter whatsoever. I am torn between getting the underseat stock box, which will probably be hard to locate or getting a single, large K&N (or other clamp on style filter) that would clamp on the outside of the remaining air box. The bike runs great with no filter at all.
My question is, not knowing the full history of the carbs, how would you recommend proceeding with replacing the filter set up.
Note that I have read lots of the posts on the K&N and realize there are many mixed feelings.
Thanks
