I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well I have been working on this for some time and have learned alot. There have been many disapointments and a few successes in getting to here. And as you can see from the pictures there is still work to do.

This is after the 1st session rattle can base code - Rustoleum AUTORF SSPR 6PK GEN PURP GLOSS BLACK. Three coats about 10 minutes appart.

You can see a few places in this picture where something fell or flew onto the surface as it was sprayed, dadgummit!

Guess a little wet sanding and another painting session and if I get a nice and smooth result I have a 2K rattlecan clear to put over it.

And I found out from my wife I have a PHD. That is - Projects Half Done, on 2 motorcycles, a boat, a guitar, a fence.... I never knew I was so educated.

Thanks, there is still some work to be done and I am not sure I want to leave it just black. I was thinking about something close to the OEM paint scheme, this one was the metallic grey/green ish insert but I am not sure about that. I do plan on trying to at least put the gold pin stripes on. And being a very linier minded person do not feel a lot of confidence on pulling pin stripes off.

Well,

An interesting thing happened today, I decided that I wanted the pain scheme to more closely patch original so after wet sanding the tank I sprayed a coat of metalic grey on the sides, then masked out the side of the tank that would be left metalic grey and sprayed 2 more coats of the grey. After the paint had dried to touch I started removing the masking tape and on the left side this happened, right side had no issue.

This is the sheet of paint that pealed off pretty as you please, it was just nice a pliable, the area on the tank was real tacky too but the pain skin was not...

Well now it is another round of sanding.... ugh.

Well progress is being made, now it is time for 2K clear.

This isn't a pro job by any means, but will look better than a 30-30 (seen from 30 feet or 30 MPH) job. I started it out to "save a few bucks" but I may have spent almost as much on materials asI would have if I had taken it to a pro and that is without counting my time. But I have learned a bunch and to me, that has been fun for a 52 year old desk jockey.

That looks really good. Even though it might come out costing about the same as a professional job you can take pride in the paint job because you did it yourself.

The pinstripes look like they came out nice too. Can we get some closer pics?
