    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I'm looking for a Regulator / Rectifier for my '82 GS1100GL. I've heard good things about Rick's as well as old Honda's.

However, I'm confused which one to get:
* BikeCliff's site mentions my bike takes a different model than most.
* Rick's MotorSport Electrics lists the part as 10-222. But, everywhere I see that part, doesn't list my bike. The 10-212 looks more like it. But then there is the 10-202.
* ElectroSport shows part no ESR090. But, when I look up that part on other sites, once again my bike is not listed.

I'd really like to pick up a used Honda r/r off eBay for $10-20 and wire it up. But, I just don't know what to get.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Welcome to the forum! Basscliff will be on in a moment to mega welcome you! Read the Stator papers and you'll learn all about the dreaded R/R issues. I’m currently going through the nightmare of a blown R/R. You want a 5 wire unit, 3 stator in, a power out and a ground. I use R&R's from 01-03 GSXR 600s. I prefer to use newer units with bikes that require a decent draw like the Fuel Infected GSXRs. Never had issues...

You can use others aswell.. Use the search feature!!!

The stator for your bike is different from most of the GS line. But the regulator/rectifier is compatible with many. Did you see the list of compatible FET r/r units?

I would not recommend buying an OEM style unit from an aftermarket dealer. Get one of the above units because they are more robust. There are a couple of sellers on eBay who sell the Shindengen units new but they are not cheap ($100-$150).

Anyway, let me dump a TON of information on you and share some GS lovin'. :D

Stick with SH-232 and SH-532, they are direct drop ins and I have never found a bad one. Instructions for creating the RR are in my sig line below.
