A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I bought a stock airbox from ebay to return my bike back to stock. One question, I can't get the bugger to in!

I took the side panel off and removed the battery and it still won't slide in. Any tips or hints on how to get it in?

Cheers!

Don't tell me they weld the frame around the airbox? Or that you have to drop the engine out of it to get it in? :? :x

Funny. Seem like it but I think taking the carbs off is enough

I disassembled my spare 450GA this weekend, And found that the airbox was very difficult to remove. You need to at least remove the carbs to get it out, as it slides forward to come out. I can't remember if I could get it out before I removed the engine from the frame, but I remember thinking how difficult it would be to remove it if you wanted to..

What a crap design, making the airbox so hard to remove.

i took the carbs off of my 450 and still could not get the damn thing out... so i ended up cutting it up... annnd that was a stupid thing to do... but i do believe you have to take the engine out or something... somebody correct me if i'm wrong... just my opinion... seeing as how i couldn't get it out even with the carbs off...

Rabbit, I concur. I took the carbs off last night and still could not get that f'n airbox in. I'm not gonna take the engine off to install it, so it will be going back on Ebay.

I've got the 450L, so it may be different, but I got mine out without pulling the engine or carbs, so i imagine it would go back in a similar way. It did take a few well placed blows to get it out though. I would wedge it it there as close as you can figure to how it's supposed to go in and then give it a few whacks with a rubber mallet, it's plastic so you can bend and tweak it a little without doing too much real damage.
