A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

:( I just got an 83 gs450ed from a friend before he went to iraq. when I first tried to strat it I had no spark on either cylinder so I was instructed by a cycle shop to replace the igniter. Which I did ($125 non returnable). The bike started up the first time I turned it over but it was only running on one cylinder. I can take the coil power wires off and switch sides and the spark switchs sides. so the coils are good. Does this mean my CDI is bad if so where can I get one, and wher can I get a Dyna ignition, price, difficulty of installation.

If you are taking off the power leads on the coils and swapping it then you are missing power on one of the leads. Check that both coils have battery voltage to them.

The ignitor is the ignition system. Your bike does not have CDI.

Did you buy a new ignitor from the cycle shop, or did you buy a 2nd hand one from ebay or?

Check the voltage on the power supply wires to both coils. It may be nothing more complicated than having a faulty power supply wire on one coil. You can wire a "Y" into the good power lead to power both coils if one wire shows to be dead.

I have power to each coil yet still only one sparks. I bought the ignitor second hand. Could one part of the ignitor be burned out? What about that Dyna ignition good? bad? can not be done? won't help?
