If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hey everyone, I picked up an 83 GS750E complete bike (electrical issues) for $100. I'm curious if I can swap the head to my 77 GS750. My reasons are #1 it has more valves #2 my head gasket is leaking a tad bit of oil #3 the head looks better.
Only problem I for see is the 83 has an oil lines and there are 2 (return?) Oil lines from the head that go to the gearbox. Anybody know my options on this? Thanks!

Valves won't match piston domes, cylinder stud bolt pattern, bore centers in different locations, just to name a few.

Ok, so it's not going to happen. From my understanding bore and stroke is different. Can I swap the whole top end, including pistons and conn rods? Leaving me with a 77 crank and bottom end with 83 top end rods, pistons, jugs, heads. Would something like that match up?

You must have missed the part where it was mentioned that the bolt pattern and cylinder spacing is different. :-k

I will repeat what the experts have already said: "NO, it will NOT work."

"More valves" might help performance a little bit, but not enough to make it worth the effort.
A leaky head gasket can be fixed.
You want to change a head because it looks better? :-k
