A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Has anyone installed a windshield on their GL, and if so I'd like to see pics? I want to install one for comfort reasons, but would like to see some "after'" pics so I can ensure the best looks also. TIA!!

I don't have any front views. But I can tell you that I have a really small windshield on my 850, I don't know who makes it but it says spitfire on it. It is waaaaayyyyyyyy to small, I still get hit with bugs small rocks...and even a bat last summer ( good thing I had a helmet on ). Just my opinion.

Slipsteamer makes the spitfire shield, I have one on my 1000. Only 60 bucks on JP Cycle.

Here's a Pic of my 1000G with windshield. TPO had it on, I took it off the first day but will put it back on for the Yosemite trip...

Here is my 650 with a windshield. Not sure who made it. It has the word "Spirit" on it. Anyone got a clue on that one?

I definitely like the looks of the spirit and the first one. Do they do a good job with deflection? I've seen the shorter ones on e-bay for around $60, but I don't think they would deflect enough.

Thanks for the replies all.

Deflection

For the amount of miles I have put on the 650 in the last year, I have to say the Spirit windshield works very well. I'm 5'10" and when I get on the highway I just have to lean down slightly to get the top of my helmet out of the wind.

I asked a friend who has experience riding both with and without windshield which he preferred. He said the windshield was good for long runs on the highway. His girlfriend liked it because without the windshield she always felt like the wind was trying to get in between them on the highway.

Here's a couple of shots of my '82 GS850L with a Givi windshield I installed last Summer. Hope these help.
