Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I'd like to correct you, Pete.
I'm in Frankston, I'm not from Frankston. :D

I met Boris through his site and have become quite good friends with him plus many, many good folk.
They are the mob I usually ride with.

Aaah I stand corrected :o I think my wife's "problem" with Frankston has more to do with her parents (they're feral) than Frankston though...

Boris seems to be an interesting guy. Some of his articles annoy the crap out of me, most are very entertaining. I have always suspected that knowing the guy would reveal a good bloke. I fear if he ever met me he would suspect me of some beige cardigan wearing though...

Sadly I'm currently lacking in any riding mates at all. I used to ride with some random people around Brissie that were all on an email group, but that's sort of disappeared over the last 5 years or so and seeing as I haven't ridden for around 9 years, I've lost contact with them all.

Something I have to work on once it's on the road again...

You'll be right, Pete.
You meet the nicest people on a .. Oh never mind.

There's a few GSR'ers in your vicinity isn't there?
If not, just ride, mate.

I'm glad you never finished that sentence... this is a Suzuki forum... hahahaha :p

I have no intention of letting a lack of riding buddies stopping me from riding, and in fact for the first month or so I'll be glad to be by myself as I try to get some confidence back again. 9 years off two wheels is a little worrisome as I've actually been off one now longer than I was on one... now that's sad!

There's at least one GSR member near me (Hillsy), although I suspect his 450 may be a little longer getting going than mine by the looks, although I'm pretty sure he has others...

Wow, I'm back on Page 4!
Has it been that long since I ran aground with this?
I need to pay penance to someone or other I think.

Anyway, I went out to the shed last night for a stare..
I found that I didn't much like what I was looking at so I took to it with cigarettes and bourbon..

Then I pulled a blanket over it, kissed it good night and wandered inside..

I'm going back out there tonight..

Ever finished a job and looked at it thinking "Yeah, that looks good"
Then you look at it a month or so later and realise it's a bit crappy in a spot..
Then you realise there are more spots.
Lots more spots...

LoL. Yes I have. Often times or not it is a reflection of my life I am looking at.. Just kidding. But I know what you mean. A job that was only going to take a couple of days ends up taking a couple of weeks as you hone out each problem. The good thing with that is hopefully by the time you are done there are no problem areas left and you are simply left with something you can be proud of.

Yeah has been a while... I've been waiting impatiently :p

But I tell ya, if that's what bourbon does to paint, I'm glad I don't drink it! Scotch is much more friendly...

Good to see some action again :D

Wanna come fix my ignitor?

Fingers crossed, mate. That's the plan.
I've decided not to go all out on the shiny bits as next winter will see the motor replaced by a late GSXF or early GSXR unit.
..and Ace bars..
..and cafe bum..
..and twin upswept tapered cones..
..maybe..

I have an on road date in mind but I'm not going to say anything. You know what will happen if I do.

Ignitor? Hmm.
Here is a photo of the one for the barbecue. I hope that helps.

Maybe? I don't think it's a maybe, I think FC has brainwashed you :p

Yeah that's helpful... ought to work a treat, will certainly provide spark when mixed with fuel...

See, once again, you get started, and I'm at a stand still... sheeesh... I should've known you were starting when i couldn't get a spark :p

He certainly has cemented some ideas that were floating around loosely. Bloody cheeky young upstart thinking he can outdo us dinosaurs. :)

Have I Yang'd your Yin?

Ha yeah... can't have that now, so you're just gonna havta do it.

And yep, believe my Yang has been Yin'd... or is that my Yin has been Yanged?

Well, I headed out to the shed for an hour or two tonight.

I sanded and cleaned the tank and gave it a coat of primer..

It sucked..
As soon as it hit where the new paint was it blistered and crinkled.

So, there was only one thing for it. I love those nylon wheels..

Mate that's shiny!

Have you considered doing it all like that and just polishing it? You could clear coat it I suppose so you don't have to keep polishing...

One thing I considered if I ever get my 450 done and start on the little stroker I have is no paint, just polish it all... save some weight to get the most out of the 100cc it has... mind you that's probably a pipe dream at the moment

The shape of the tank and the shiny bit got me thinking about a polished steel tank..
Then I came to my senses..
Any of you lot ever ridden an old BSA with a nice shiny tank?
I have..
On a sunny day it's bloody annoying.

So I thought polished sides and blue or matt black top.

In the end I've decided just to go back to a solid blue..
Properly prepared and applied this time

Aaaah good point! You just made me remember I thought about that... sheesh... memory's not what it used to be... still polished sides would be nice indeed.

Properly done blue will be nice though :)

Thommo keeps yelling at me to stop messing with it until he can get down here and fix it properly..

Hahaha... Do you yell back "I wouldn't keep messing with it if you'd just get down here and do it"?

Ha! I told him I'd be an old man by the time..
He moves a bit slow.
You know what these Queenslanders are like..
