A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

In the meantime, and please forgive my straying from The One True Path, I bought this on the weekend and proceeded to put 1100+ kms (660+ miles) on it over the Snowy Mountains.

Hope you're not riding that to the Classics , or we'll talk about you when we're drunk .

Cheers , Simon . :)

I run those pods leigh, no problems so far.
stage 3 dynajet with a 4 into 1 though.

Cool, wish I could get a stage 3 Dynajet kit though, they only make a stage 1 for my 450 so I'll be playing the jetting game soon... mind you, it'll be nice to actually have a bike to tune :D

Cheers , Simon . :)

And probably when you're sober too... :p

If you do ever decide to go the K&N route, don't go to Z Power
I wouldn't use them if I was paid to. I put them in the same bin as Powerbronze.

Reassuring to know, thanks. I don't think I'll be going Stage 3 though... Yet.

I should bloody well hope so too.

I wouldn't recommend them, Pete.
Neither would at least a dozen people I know.

In that case they're in the ignore basket :)

Haven't had any grief with Slipstream Performance yet except they've stopped stocked the fly screen I had my eye on...

Right.
There's one for me to add to the list of suppliers when I get my bum into gear on this.

Oh, speaking of speedy suppliers.
Sin City Cycle Parts despatched the pods the same day I paid.
That's a good sign, right?

I'll let you know if I have any dramas.

That is a good sign! I've got stuff coming from the UK and Sydney at the moment, some not bike related, and neither of them have bothered to mark them as posted, so who knows if they're on there way or not...

That sh!ts me when they can't even be bothered clicking the mouse to let you know they're on the way.

The pods turned up today.
I'm quite impressed.
I can get stuff out of Olean, NY weeks before I can get stuff from Hong Kong.

Anyways, the pods are quite well constructed.
There are two metal pins that go from the caps to the base to hold it all together.
The chrome looks solid and well applied.
The filters themselves are in between two fine mesh "cages" and are quite thick.
The rubber base mount is thick with barbed ribs inside to help grab the carb throat.
Even the hose clamp is good quality and chrome.

Cool, they sound promising... do they need oiling?

That's one issue with some of the cheapies apparently... no oiling and therefore don't filter as much crap from getting in.

Sounds like they're made well though!

Good point, Pete.
They don't look like foam more like steel wool.
But I guess they're a compressed paper type as they are concertina'd.

Not sure if they can be oiled then? Not sure how that all works, whether you need foam for oil or not. I'm guessing paper and oil won't play well together though...

Not raining on your parade here either, just curious as to why I had to pay a lot more just for two K&N's ;)

And your oil filter is made of???

Theres some dry paper ones, but to confuse the issue theres oiled paper too, pretty cert if its fabric, felt, foam, their lightly oiled.

I know K&Ns are oiled ex factory, and they are cleanable.

But thats all i know.... sad really.

John

No, I wouldn't suggest oiling paper.

The difference in price?
No Name V K&N.

K&N: The Reeboks of filters.

Yeah good point... forgot about the oil filter! Ooops...

See I didn't even know that... haha ;)

Hahaha true... I was hoping there'd be more to it than just the brand though...
