A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

A question about AGM`s

No, I'd charge it up once a month or so, if it needed it.
Leaving it plugged in all winter does it NO good.

Hell, a good AGM won't even be low after a couple months.

I just pulled one from a bike that had sat four years with no charging, it was only a little bit down. Charged it up and put it back in, it's working just fine.

Hey, we sorta agree ! I charge my seasonal batteries every other month with my 2 amp battery maintainer. AGMs seem to loose little compared to older style batteries.

Yes, I couldn't believe the battery after four years sitting in the bike was still good, let alone still mostly charged up. But I parked it there myself, couldn't get a title for the bike, and forgot about it. Four years later it's working fine. Amazing.

Hmm... I'll have to look into this. On their site they look to be around $170-$200....

I'm going to update on the battery I bought from Amazon.

left it hooked up for the last 3-4 months over winter, no trickle charger, kicked the bike right over.

I'd buy one of these again in a heart beat.

Thanks - for some reason Amazon shows its not compatible but it sure looks like it will work. I remember something about a 14 in my battery's part number.

Silly question, if the terminals are reversed wouldn't turning the battery around make it work ?

That last one won't work, the terminals are reversed.

here's the search page for the correct battery

the AGM and gel batteries are great, they won't spill and don't need a vent tube. It's amazing the abuse I've put that battery through and it'll still crank the bike after winter.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st_p...=n:15684181,k:YTX14AHL-BS&sort=price-asc-rank

Thanks! I'll take a look, page one is almost all KMG sealed batteries for $41, although that first $52 (with shipping) TMS gel seems decent. Can't tell if the posts are negative left and positive right however and it looks little smaller.

Silly question, if the terminals are reversed wouldn't turning the battery around make it work ?

You'd think, but you'd have to make/buy new cables, which wouldn't be hard but would negate any savings over getting the right battery for a little more. The cables are just long enough to reach without much slack at all...

:) First off thanks to the admin for the Happy Birthday wishes on Saturday. Since it got up to 65 F I figured I`d go down to the garage and tinker a little. Back tire was a little low so I filled it. Put the meter on the new (last year) AGM and it was at 12.4 volts so what the heck. ATGATT for me and my 6 year grandson and off we went for a little ride. Did about 5 or 6 miles with him then dropped him off and did about another 25 miles by my lonesome. I love springtime. Stay safe my brothers.

Mike
