A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have a gs550L 1982. got my carbs cleaned took the airfilter apart after reading up on bikecliffs website and noticed my air filter foam piece is falling apart and needs to be replaced can i use any sort of foam? do I have to order this stuff from bike bandit?

http://www.bikebandit.com/uni-standard-replacement-air-filter?b=24364

the airbox has two vent holes that both have hoses one of the hoses is cracked and brittle can I use any size hose that fits tight or do I need the OEM bike bandit part?

does one of these vent holes attach to the crankcase? Alittle confused about all the diffrent hoses...

anyway any answers would help. also anyone live in NOLA area want to hang out and work on my bike I could use some company I think I'm doing everything right but still getting the hang of it and could use an extra set of eyes don't really know anyone who is handy with MC in nola atleast anyone that has any free time...

thanks!

You'll want to just get an OEM filter but don't buy it from Bike Bandit; you'll have better pricing from G&S Suzuki or Boulevard Suzuki over them. Go back and reread your mega welcome from Basscliff (http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showpost.php?p=1569379&postcount=5) for more info on all of this though.

Hoses are also good to just pick up as OEM. You'll have one hose from the carbs to the petcock for fuel, another for vacuum, and two running to the space under the seat as vents. You'll have a final hose from the air box running to your breather cover.

yeah i just looked his diagram of all the carb tubes, pretty helpful. My petcock at some point was changed to a gravity feed, it works so just gonna keep that.

alright maybe i'll put an order together for some new hoses, i gotta get new plugs anyway.

thanks for the help and the tip about those other websites

Uni sells sheets of foam for cheep that you can cut a filter from. thats what i'D use
