I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

so stock air box gs850 should i run the paper k&n or switch to pod filters ? what do people recomend and why i herd bad things on k&n but i want imput please

K&N pod filters are fine as long as you jet the carbs accordingly. if set up well you could push up your RWHP to over 160 !

Or you can run the K&N replacement filter in the air box. With the pods you need to rejet though

Not to hijack the thread, but, when using the K&N replacement should you re-jet then also? The claim from K&N is that it flows more air and lasts forever, if so stock jets would make the engine run lean right?

Maybe a little bit more lean, but each case is different. Maybe one size bigger main jet would be better. Some bikes are leaner than others anyway.
The stock filter probably filters out finer dust particles, and will last longer between cleanings.

I ran a K&N in-box filter the entire time I owned my GS (about 8 years). It never ran lean.

Mostly the GSes were set very lean at idle, and at low power for emissions purposes. The pilot jet and the mixture screw adjustment were set lean. The main jet and needle jet circuits were usually not so lean.

The filter effects the mixture most when making a lot of power, when a lot of air is being drawn through the filter. The engine is usually not too lean there to begin with. At idle with not much air flow the filter does not effect the mixture much.

A one size bigger main jet may help, or it may not. It probably depends a lot on which year 850 you have, and which type carburetor.

Some bikes could use a bigger main jet, on some it's a waste of fuel. Try it and see.

When I first started to run the K&N filter (stock replacement) in my bike, I didn't have to rejet, it was fine. I only had to rejet when I added the RC pipe.

Hi,

I have both UNI (foam) and K&N stock replacement filters for my bike's airbox. I go back and forth using whichever is clean. There's been no need to re-jet. Both work with stock jetting when properly cleaned and oiled and carbs are clean and adjusted properly.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
