DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I noticed today that 2 of the connections from the airbox to the carb aren't fitting snuggly on my bike (78 GS750). I've pulled the airbox off and the fittings are pretty rough all around. Is it possible to get these fittings seperate from the airbox? I've checked out the parts fiche at bikebandit and the only line pointed at the fitting is for "hose air cleane". In the event that it can't be replaced seperatley, are there any fixes that can be done to seal any air leaks?

I am having the same issue with my 1980 GS550L, cant seem to get the boots to line up to the carbs. Have you had any success yet? i can only seem to get one side on tight and then the other side pops off.

Take a heat gun or hair dryer, and stick it above the boots pointing down on them for fifteen minutes. They will become very soft and pliable.

I use a 2x2 board stuck in the back of the airbox up against the backs of the boots to push them onto the carbs. They're a real pain on the 550L.

Yes, they are sold seperately. They are about 10 bucks each. The new ones are super supple and fit on great. I think that is what the fiche just calls them "hose air clean".

Get them here- http://www.sportlandmotorsports.com/ and not at Bike Bandit. They are cheaper and offer better service.

First off Ryonkers is right - the thing called "hose" is what you want.

They shrink and lose flexibility with age. New ones are a joy. I don't know if this is the case with your bike, but mine has left and right hoses, and if you don't put them on the correct side (and right-side up) you'll go nuts trying to get them assembled to the carbs again.

Here's a link to pics of my airbox overhaul for what it's worth. http://picasaweb.google.com/roostabunny/GS850AirboxFixup?feat=directlink

Cheers
