    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi All. Missed ya. Been leaning heavily on this forum this las week, so had to get back in. :lol: :lol:

Everything I've read about taking the carbs off and putting them back on is true. OMG!!!!

Anyway, I got them back on except for the airbox boots. I got 1 on, but it seems that the boots are compressed back into the air box a bit. I'm wondering about taking the screen out and pushing them from inside the airbox? Is there a trick to getting the screen out and back in?

Also, the local auto store only had auto fuel hose. I'm sure that's fine for the gas line, but will it work for the vaccum line as well?

the fuel line probably won't work for the vacuum, only because of size. try it, if it's tight on the petcock, it'll work?

as for the screen, my 650's never had one that I've seen... :oops: I keep finding new things that never got put back on one wrenching session long ago... :roll:
 
Fuel hose works just fine so long as it's the correct size. The vacuum hose is a smaller diameter.
 
I got the 2 different sizes. 1/4" for the vaccum and 3/8" (I think).

Any ideas on taking the screen out?

Got the screen out, some reason I thought there was more to it.
One of the boots did indeed get pushed back in a bit. It's also kind of deformed.
The air box just doesn't want to fit back in right. I'm going to use hose clamps and just push them on as good as I can and torque em down. The damn thing didn't want to come back when taking them off, now she doesn't want to go back forward to get them back on. :evil:
 
The sizes you need are 1/4" for the vacuum and 5/16" for fuel. You can use fuel line on both, I do.

On my 750, I removed the boots from the airbox and clamped them onto the carbs. then when I install the carbs, I just push the airbox onto the boots.
Not sure about how much clearance you have and if it is a possibility for you. Just a thought. A little liquid soap or oil will help the boots to go on easier.

Dont know about the screen, my 79 doesnt have one.
