All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Who makes an aluminum gas tank for our GS's? I think they look great, but I never see them on cafe' GS's.

Only person ive been able to find is The Tank Shop out of Scotland i think. But, expect to spend a mint, and wait a long time. Im sure there are others, but i dunno....

Benji from BCR (Benji's cafe racers) frequents the Do The Ton Forum, and while they do mostly Honda bikes, I have talked to him a couple times about doing some stuff and he's very willing to. Seems he's getting bored with the same ol same ol.. .

Thanks, I was hoping to find an alternate source. Have you checked out the Guzzi tanks he has?

SWEET but STUPID expensive...lol

Yep. That is the problem with low volume, custom, EXTREMELY highly skilled artistic work. You get to pay a lot for that skilled time... There are no cheap alternatives that I have ever heard of. Short of making it your hobby and doing your own, that is.

They are indeed gorgeous! Its a dream of mine to be able to do such a thing someday. Ive been looking at finding some schooling for just such a thing, to no avail yet. Seems to be a dying art.

Unfortunatly, you are right! I just don't have the time to learn how to build tanks.

The Cafekid is partly right about the Tank Shop in Scotland - though I think they are competitively priced and they were pretty quick for a mate's BSA cafe racer. Their workmanship is absolutely first class - works of art. I've seen what I think is their stuff selling for way more secondhand too.

Exchange rate and postage may of course be a bummer for anyone in the US though.

Wow - I'm really sorry to hear this. He hadn't been on the forum for long, but I specifically remember some of his posts here. They were refreshing and funny and intelligent. Very sad to hear he left so unexpectedly, and thanks for letting us know.

My condolences, Ashley! Very sorry to hear of this. I recall having left Dave a message inviting him to ride with us next season - it's too bad we'll have missed the opportunity!

If you decide to do something different with his motorcycle please let me know. We'd certainly like to keep it in the "GS Resource Family" if you and your boyfriend decide not to hang on to it. My best friend lives in Zion - fifteen minutes from Kenosha, and I'm not too much further away, so if you need any help with it don't hesitate to contact me. Needless to say, have your boyfriend sign up here and we'll give him any help he needs. Also, we'd love to have you both join us for a GS ride in memory of your uncle sometime this coming season.

Respectfully,

I sent an email to the administrator telling him about the offensive message. I hope that he sees it soon.

It would seem to me that it would be useful to have several very senior members have access to the tools to delete such messages, without needing to go to the administrator. He alreadys has too many responsibilities.
