A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I hope you guys are not tired of seeing this subject. There's a couple question not fully answered by my searching.

I have a 82 gs850gl where do you guys buy pads? And I've been having kinda sticker shock as I can buy brakes for all four wheels on my truck for about 10 bucks less. Which really I'm paying for 3 wheels on the bike because of the dual disk up front. I've only found them at jcwhitney and Bike Bandit only in the EBC and I was hoping to find some other brands but was unable to.

Second question what is the rotor minimal thickness and are the really over 100 bucks a pop???? (ok 2 questions) I don't want to get new pads and have them fry because the rotor can't take the heat spend more money and it's not like I can go get them at auto zone.

You can get answers about the disc thickness from the factory Suzuki manual, which is available for free download from BassCliff's web site... http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/

To answer your question, minimum thickness on front is 4.5mm and 6.0mm rear.

Z1 Enterprises sells brake pads, although they are EBC I think. You can also get pads from ebay - various brands.

Good luck.

The minimum thickness of rotor should be stamped on it somewhere. It is on most rotors.

EBC brakes

EBC brakes

I just purchase front and rear brake pads and the total cost was 71 plus tax.
I got them thru the dealer here in Loveland Colorado.
The owner suggested that I stick with those type and don't upgrade to the newer brakes for the reason being that he told me the metal are different back in 79 versus today metals.
He said to play it safe and go with the stock brands made for that year
anything newer may and he talking from expierence the type of pads will tear your rotors up.I am just forwarding information on to help you.Change rotor and and pads that's different.
The guy i have been dealing with seems to get stuff cheaper than on the net or any dealer can.
I got 2 metelzers 88 maybe balance and mounted (already off the bike) for 283.Everyone else for cheaper tires want 325 -375 .
Any how i hope this helps
Joe
