Was just teasing about the loud pipes. However, I witnessed the deer running away from my ZZR 1st hand. But, it was the sound reverberating off of the mountains, I'm sure. Something that Fla doesn't have. ;-)

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've also seen deer calmly standing in the ditch eating grass startled into oncoming traffic by loud vehicles.

I caught seven of them in this shot. They're not shy in the Sandia Mountains.

I killed a deer two weeks ago. I was driving a loaded 26' U-Haul, towing a minivan on a trailer, going about 55. Four-lane divided road, central Iowa, 9 PM. I only saw it a second before it jumped. I looked like a fully grown doe. There wouldn't have been a chance of reacting to it with a car at any speed above about 10 mph. It was directly in the center of the truck at impact. A bit of a shudder, but nothing more. A friend driving my Accord just behind me also saw it jump, but nothing was under the truck. We assume that it's momentum vectors bounced it off towards the right side of the road. I didn't even slow down. Traffic was pretty steady, and the shoulder was narrow. Stopping to look for damage would have been dangerous. The truck drove exactly the same as before. All gauges showed normal. I monitored the temperature gauge for a while, against the possibility radiator damage and losing coolant. A half hour later I pulled into a station and gassed up. Plastic trim around right headlight was gone, Grill was bent a bit, but still 2" from the radiator. The bumper was bent into a very shallow "V", perhaps 2" deep.
I called it in to U-Haul, which took a half hour of wading through automated attendants and waiting for a person. They were unconcerned as long as there was no significant damage. I had full coverage insurance, so I didn't need to fork out on extra cent.

Feeling is mutual. Things got crazy near the end. I packed the first third very carefully, tossed a lot of stuff. Second third, OK. Last third, thrown in boxes. Truck wasn't large enough, I left at least $1000 of stuff was left behind, and I had to pay to dispose of it.
In my third week in Cedar Rapids, middle of settling in. My "citizenship" documents are in the thrown-in-boxes category, mixed in with 5 tons in storage. So, to get an Iowa DL, I need a certified birth certificate. The fees for mailing it are much higher than the cost of gas to ride the Wee Strom to Des Moines to get a certified birth certificate in person. So that's on the agenda today. I'll pass the deer strike site both ways. And visit some friends.
We'll find a place to catch up!
