All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am making good progress on my project but hit a speed bump. I am working on a 79 GS1000L.
I couldn't get the signal lights to work, they are after market non LED lights. I installed a Tridon 552 can type flasher. Thanks to those in an earlier post that steered me in this direction. They now work but as soon as I pull the the signal switch the other side come on. There is no off position.
I read that you lose the auto canceling feature with this mod.
My question is, is there something I have to do in the handle bar switch to get an off position

Be careful parts will go everywhere. The turn signal control module is bad... (mounted on battery box rt side) 78-79 was very prone to failure. Your best bet is to convert it to manual signals..

There is a very tiny steel ball in the assembly.
It's like an extremely small ball bearing, so be careful!

I decided to disassemble my turn signal assembly OUTSIDE.....yeah I was crawling around my driveway for 1 hour looking for it....and I actually FOUND IT! woohooo!

Hello! I, too, am running into issues with my signal lights. They work (depending on her mood) either as a solid left or right turn signal, or nothing at all. I think it might be my signal control unit........I only get 12V in, but nothing out. I looked at the OEM part number (38830-49001) and much to my dismay, costs roundabouts of 400 dollars. Is there something generic I can use? I've gotten the runaround at my local store, who insist this is the only thing I can use, but I refuse to believe that. Almost anything can be worked around. The question I pose to you is.......is there an easy workaround? And if not easy, what about cheap(er)?

I have a 1979 GS850......any other information needed?

Your issue, while similar, is not exactly the same as the original poster's.

Instead of hijacking this thread, I encourage you to start your own thread. Then you can get the specific help you need and it won't get confused with the original poster's issue.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

More than likely you have a bad TSCU.

the only work around for it is to buy a non self cancel style switch and replace yours. if you need more information, as basscliff suggests, start a new thread.
