A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I intend on buying a new set of coils. Mine work ok, but they look mismatched. One of them doesn't even bolt onto both studs. I don't want to buy any used coils. I have a stock 82 GS 850L with the stock electronic ignition system. I was thinking of ordering a DYNA set out of Den Kirk. I Just need to know what specs I should stick to. I don't think I need to spend a lot of money on high performance ones. Thanks Chris.

I just won an auction for a set off of a newer Katana 600. Look to be the same as stock GS items. I should have them next week and will measure resistance and let everyone know if they are adaptable. Could be a low cost way to replace your coils.

i just bought some accel coils from MAW and i am happy with them, they are cheaper then dyna coils and come with a mouting kit and wires, all for 124.00 for a 3 ohm system.

I don't want used.

I don't want used.

Are 3 Ohm concidered high performance. I would like them to be close to stock. I don't want any used coils. even off a newer bike they could have been abused. I know the ones on my bike have been. I used to ride at red line just about the whole way to work. I was 18 then with no kids.

3 ohm is what is needed with electronic ignitions. The stock coils are 3 ohm and aftermarket coils are various ratings depending on ignition type. There is nothing wrong with a good used coil. I am still using my 18 year old stock coils and I have ridden my bike very hard in all types of conditions. It is not something that is subject to abuse. They are either good or bad, and either have a strong or weak output. I had a set of Dyna coils that one went bad after only a couple of years. If I could figure out how to use the individual coils they run on the new Gixxers where the coil is built into the plug cap I would be using a used set of those.

Oh. Now I see the light.

Oh. Now I see the light.

A little light just went on in my head. I need 12v 3ohm coils. the CDI .7 ohm coils wont work. Thanks.

I have accel ....paid 130 for the kit incl coils wires mounts and NGK plugs...Believe they throw a nice spark

some of us have found Dyna coils not an exact match for the stock mounting.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I think I'll lean toward the accel set. I would like them to bolt up the right way. Thanks again. Chris.

my accel coils werent exactly an exact bolt up but fairly easy to deal with
