    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

it suppose to cool down cylinder termperatures and reduce pinging and knocking. It also up the compression a little due to expansion of the water into steam. This has been done before with success but I'm not real sure how well it works.

A quick look on google brought up this: http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/waterinjection.html

But off the top of my head, I know that late world war 2 P&W air cooled radials started getting outfitted with water injection-- mostly for additional power on carrier takeoff. Navy Hellcats in specific, dunno about any other P&W running allied aircraft.
 
I know and old dutchman who used to be a school bus mechanic. He told me that back in the 60's he had an old 1940ish oldsmobile and he lived about 2 miles from the garage at the top of the hill. He took off the rad fan (more h.p.) and fitted a homemade water injection system. He could get home super fast this way up this steep hill but if he didn't get their quick he would blow his motor due to overheating. He also said when he broke the frame (??) he just fish plated it and bolted it back together! old guys and old times. just try that stuff now! :lol:
 
You can also use it a turbo-prop engine. We call it water-meth.
 
J.C. Whitney used to sell a water injection kit. Checked the on-line catalog and I didn't see it... Oh well, at least the instant engine rebuild oil additive pellets are still in there! 8O :lol:
 
It used to be a popular mod for cars in the 60's. I never did it but knew a lot of people who had done, it usually on high compression engines, to get rid of acceleration knock.

There were several different versions some using straight water and some running an alcohol/water mix.

I worked for a homebuilder about 30 years ago that had a garage full of some sort of water injection system he had invested in. It seemed to be similar to what JC Whitney used to have in the catalog.
