Anyone Heard of BUB-4-1 exhaust??

I came across a shop selling a BUB {out of California} complete NOS exhaust system. Looks to be of good quality, I wondered if anyone had one or had an opinion on the sound or fitment.

4-1 megaphone style with baffle.

I am thinking of this for my 77 550.

Thanks in advance.

I only the stuff they build for 650 Yamahas is quality made. Bub runs a streamliner bike at Bonneville. I didnt know they started to make 4-1s again

My knowledge is limited on this at the moment.

I do know that BUB is the same one that has the streamliner.

The Exhaust is made in USA and not farmed out to China. The guy who has it now guessed that it was made in the 80's.

I do not believe BUB is still making these.

I wil be able to find out more details tommorow. From what I briefly saw, the system was of heavier metal and better chrome than something like a current MAC system.

Still curious if anyone has one currently on thei bike and how it has held up, also how does it sound??

Bub (Dennis Manning) made quality goods for all kinds of bikes in the 80's. Apparently BUB stands for "Big Ugly Bastard".

I know he made good pipes for Nortons. He built the streamliner seen in "On Any Sunday" driven by Cal Rayborn.

I would get them.

In the late '70's i had a Bub 3-1 on my Triumph T160.
I know that will not help you out much Jim but i remember the chrome was fair and it was loud...sounded great.

I rode a T160 from Maine to CA in '85. It had a Big D 850 kit and Dunstalls. Good looking bike. It had a seat like an upholstered brick.

Here is a modern BUB, modded to fit a GS. You should definitely get it....if you don't like the looks, or sound level on your bike, there will surely be members here willing to take it off you hands.;)

i have a friend that had a bub system it was junk! we had to have them send new mounts 3 time cuz the pipe would brake !!! it was the bub 7 pipe i think.

I ended up purchasing the BUB system and installing it. The quality is excellent and I really like the sound. The guy had some reverse cone baffles for the system and I bought one of those as well. The fit was perfect except for the foot peg mount. My early 550 uses a clevis arrangement for the foot peg mount and I assume the later models have a bolt on style.

The sound is really low and unobtrusive at idle with the baffle in and has a great "rip" as the revs get into the higher numbers.

The great news is that there are more available for the 550, 650 and 750s ! See the post in "For Sale" section.

is it just me or is that megaphone on upside down? shouldnt it bolt to the same location as the stock meg? e.g. the bottom rear of the exhaust/passengerpeg "hoop".

otherwise it looks good
