A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

ok, so I downloaded GIMP and messed around.
Here is what I came up with for a mockup of the paint I'm going for.

Feedback?

I would assume you're doing the back wheel to match the front?

I think it'd look better with a black crankcase, maybe a crinkle-paint.

Have you considered getting a NOS sticker pack? They come in several colors and could make it look really good.

Yes back wheel to match the front.

I haven't seen any sticker pack's I'm not sure what is in it.
I'll take a look, but if you know of one, please link to it.
Thanks!

Anything white will look good for..oh, about a day. Then it's gonna be a pain to keep looking good, especially wheels and engine parts. Personally, I would paint the wheels gloss black, the forks and chain guard satin black, rear shocks gloss black, pipes satin black, handlebars and mirrors gloss black, engine cylinders dark gray, engine block satin black with polished covers for a little bling. The red is gonna really pop with the darker colors surrounding it. Things like the calipers (same gray as cylinders) and chain guard, to me, should blend in and almost disappear. If you get too many parts all different colors, it looks too busy. Subtle contrasts are what bring a whole scheme together. All just my humble thoughts...;)

I hear people say exactly the same thing about chrome and black.
Can't tell you how many time I hear people say they won't buy a black car because the paint is a pain.

I'm looking for only 4 colors tops.
chrome, red, black, and white.

The problem with white is that it stains so easy, then you have to repaint it. Black is kind of hard to keep clean, yes, but it hides so well, and wipes clean easily.

OK, I made another attempt with GIMP.
Here is my original thoughts on the paint.
Personally I think that the white really pops out.

and here is with black instead of white. without the red highlights some have suggested and I have already painted.

I like the black better.

I would suggest looking at VHT Engine Enamel for paints. Their Nu Cast Aluminum finish looks really good if you want to keep things silver (how I like it...).

I actually really like the white rims, but if you really want to paint the crankcase, definitely go with black.
