DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Are these fuel filters any good?

Fuel filters can cause restriction to fuel flow. If your fuel system is not clean I suggest fixing the problem at the source.

Well....right now I have no filter at all, and my bike runs fantastic...I have read post after post where alot of folks suggest adding one if there isn't one installed for added insurance. So are you saying I don't really need one if my tank is clean, and my GS1000 runs perfect?

Thanks

Jeff (teet)

There is a screen in the petcock, and the fuel inlet seats often have screens as well. Suzuki knows what they are doing and they did not include an extra fuel filter.

Sounds good to me..I just picked up a new tank, and petcock, so I know they are clean...I guess I can forget picking one up....

Thanks

I have used that glass filter on my GS1000 for years It flows great and it is reuseable. Yes my petcock has a filter screen but, this gives me added peace of mind!

I've been running inline fuel filters on my bikes for years and haven't had any problems with fuel flow. Just make sure they are gravity fed and not for pressurized systems. The one you posted is what I use on my ZRX1200 and it's carburated jsut like these GS's.

Thanks bigbabee, and reddirtrider. I'll remember that should I decide to get one....do you guys clean them regularly, or notice any buildup within??

Thanks,

Jeff

the cheap cone shaped plastic ones like you see for snowmobiles will get really soft and bend. just a heads up.

I clean my filter every riding season. I have never noticed any significant buildup.

I use the one shown as K&N part 81-0261 on my bike. I didn't pay $7-10 for it though! You can get exactly the same filter from any outdoor power equipment shop for about $2. The pancake style inline filters sold for B&S and Honda small engines have the same style of stainless screen but in an opaque housing.
