just to clarify, when you speak of Katana 600 wheels being 4 or 4.5" wide, you mean the straight spoke wheels, right?

5ddb_1.JPG

i like the curved ones like the gs500. no 4 or 4.5 in the curved style wheel, is there?

The straight spoke wheels aren't compatible...you want the curvy ones...they'll match the front GS500 wheel.

Let me hit up my sources and confirm EXACTLY which Kat wheels you need.

Also, PM me with your budget for the wheels...I bet I can get you a set of GS500 ones pretty easy.

i just bought this bad boy, its an 18" front wheel. it was labeled as 86 GSXR 750, but heard it may be an 88 1100 wheel. either way, i need to know what it is so i can buy rotors for it.

I'm pretty sure that's an 1100 front wheel...the '86 750 has the split tri-spoke wheels.

if it helps, i run a gs500 front wheel on my gs with (uk) 1100 katana forks, a bandit 600 disc, kawasaki zx9r caliper and home made yokes. the rear wheel is a gsxr1100m which matches the front gs500 wheel

So just when did you get that one???

If it is 18" (as it looks) then it is an 88 GSXR 1100 wheel.

I thought I was buying them all up :(. I musta missed that one.

Do you have a link to the auction? Front wheels are more rare.

Sorry to let you down buddie :(. I saw that wheel as well and there is no such thing as 18"x3.5". It is a 17"x3.5" wheel.

The seller clarified but did not post it to the auction

Still a nice wheel for the money.

Item:GSXR 750 1986 Front rim (320332736078)
Subject:Re: Question for item #320332736078 - GSXR 750 1986 Front rim
Q: sorry about my misunderstanding, it appears this rim is 17x3.5... 88-94 gsxr 750 factory size on the side of the rim were sanded off.

17" is better anyway. 18" wheels have a much narrower market for tires.

what a dickbag seller. why would he lie about it?

I dont think he lied

I dont think he lied

He said the markings were sanded off and he came clean with me when I asked. For some reason the last ebay question did not post to the auction Q&A.

The early post 87 750's actually use this wheel 17x3.5" ft with a 17x4.5" rear

How you going to approach putting the 17" wheel on to a stock GS1000 fork?

18" is even tricky due to rotor and caliper mismatch with 19" forks.

Did you happen to check out the first page of this thread? I had no problem making a GS500 wheel with 310mm rotors work with 1979 750 Showa forks.

What year GS500?

Well sorry just been catching up with the thread.

I see you used 17" wheels, rotors and calipers and adapted with new hangers to your stock forks. Nice.

Watta bout the rear?

Is that a stock caliper, with GSXR hanger for the caliper? Does that fit the rotor from the 17" wheel?

I've been working with the GSXR 1st gen 750/1100 stuff so have not paid much attention to mid 80 GS stuff (after 83).
