DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I would like to install a 2 gal auxillery fuel tank to my GS450T. Has anyone done this and would like to share any pointers? Hopeing to try some long distance riding.

I was thinking about mounting it to my rear rack and use gravity to push the fuel. Would there be any problem with connecting a T connector between the fuel tank pet cock and carberator and a fuel shut off valve between the aux tank and the T connector? Then I could just turn the aux tank shut off valve when I start running out of gas from the main tank. I don't have much experience with a vaccum pet cock and wonder if there would be any problem with this set up due to the vaccum pet cock on the main tank?

Thanks

This is the only pointer I can make. Rather then going through all the innovative thought process and possibly the risk of becoming a human torch, upgrade to a larger bike with a larger tank. This is with safety concerns that I suggest this. Bob

Or just find something larger than the T tank. How about a 750 tank? An 850 tank on a 450 would go forever, if you can make it fit.
People do use aux tanks, it can be safe if done correctly. Just carrying fuel bottles, like you use for camp stoves is one option, but something mounted on a rear rack would be better. You might have to bypass the vacuum function of your petcock to make it work.

Or skip all the hose routing and just carry extra gas in a can safely strapped to the rear rack. When you run low, pull over and fill the tank from the reserve can. While stopped "water" a nearby tree and hit the road again.

Don't do this- if anything goes wrong( i.e. accident ), you'll be responsible and your insurance company will deny all claims. Like others have said, get a big tank and modify it to fit. A 250 ninja has a 4.5 gallon tank and a vacuum petcock- plenty of these in salvage yards.
