A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Avon 100 19 Tyre out of stock - suggestions please

If you like a tire to give feedback when cornering try the Dunlop 591. Just because it says Harley doesn't mean anything. Harley currently makes more bikes than anyone with a 19" front. We're fortunate to get modern compounds in this size tire.

The BT45 I tried on my wife's 1150 is the worst tire I ever bought. I was looking for a Michelin Macadam 16", but was backordered for 6 months.
I didn't like them either.

Dunlop GT501s are available although they're a little pricey, run you around $90.00. I've got the 100/90 x 19 on my GS1000 and am really impressed with it. Grips great when pushed hard in the corners without any feeling like the front wants to push or run wide. On a lighter 550 it should work even better. The 130/80 x 18 rear seems to be getting good mileage, I've got about 4,000 miles on it with about 2,500 of that being high speed cruising in hot temps and it appears to be just over 1/2 worn. I think a lot people overlook these because of price but they sure do seem to work.

One thing you've got to ask yourself on these screamin' E-Bay deals is "How old is this tire?" :-k The tire may have been sitting on a shelf for five years. Just 'cause it's never been on a bike doesn't mean it's a good tire.

my front metzeler slips at 32psi but holds really well at 28psi

why would you run 40psi in the front
I always ran my GT501s at 40psi. Better gas milege and longetivity. I bought the wrong size tire off Fleabay  and put about 70 in it to get the bead to set. I had one heck of a time with it. Ended up using WD-40 to get it to bead.

The Chef is a big guy, I would think looking at your stats might explain why it worked for him & not for you!

He makes my 1000 look like a 125 :D
