A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

bags melted on exhaust.any trick on how to get the melted part off the exhaust without scratching it up to much.when I first looked at the bike to buy not a scratch on the chrome came back to buy next day he put bags on it and rode it & the bags melted on the right side.still bought the bike rode it home to with the bags on it.

Let a few other members chime in before trying this. Do not know if it would discolor your exhaust or not.(try in small not well seen area first) A rag soaked in (cant think of the name) the stuff in nail polish remover. Wrap rag around melted goo. Pour some acetone on rag. (remembered) Pour some more on every half hour as acetone evaporates quickly until able to rub off.

Easy-off oven cleaner is what you need.
Heat up your exhaust a bit, put some easy-off oven cleaner on a rag, and then start wiping off the melted plastic bag.
Depending on how much is melted onto your exhausts, you might need to repeat a few times.
After you're done removing the melted plastic bag, wash the exhaust with Simple Green (or your favorite cleaner) in order to remove the oven cleaner.
Easy peasy ... been there a few times. It also very easily cleans up melted boot marks.

thank you for the replies will get the acetone(which can use 4 other things to) and oven cleaner.

Yeah clean your OVEN to, lol, show us a pic of your new bike, Brian

forgot about the stuff on the bike today and went for a ride instead.have to get in as much as I can before winter.here's a pic of it.handlebars are changed, but I got the original ones.

I would get on with the Acetone cleaning, the more you ride it the harder it'll bake on.

Is that supposed to be the bike in your signature? :-k

The '80 1100L was chain-driven and had a 16-valve engine.

That bike is an 8-valve shafty 1000, which would be a 1000GL. :o
