A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I was just looking at my bike but before I take it apart I want to know if I can simply unbolt my clip on bars that are stock and turn them upside down?

More of a cafe look like Qckslvr has

I guess I'll go knock it out.

BL huh, ever go to the BL bike shop? I know a person with the last name of Morris who used to come in so I'm wondering.

Nope, can't say I visited the BL bike shop. My first name is Don
As for you bars, I made the mistake of thinking you had standard 7/8", one piece bars. Then I looked at your sig and see that your bike is a 85 GS700 which I believe has left/right side bars like the ones on my 85 GS1150. I have also looked at flipping my bars but the mount bolt will not be where you need it and the bars (at least on mine will) not sit flat.

Clubmans can be mounted but will require holes be drilled into the top triple clamp for mounting hardware.

Best, Don

Yeah they do, I pulled one bolt off before dinner... is it not going to work before I go any further?

Anyone know what size clip on's to get. I searched but came up empty as most that have been posted are refering to traditional bars.

Better yet I THINK they're 37mm, if they are where can I buy just the clips?

I found some ending in 5 hours on ebay that are 37mm, 99 cents thenn $10 shipping. I need to know asap if they are 37 or not! ahh

I just need the clips. This is a PITA, since I can reuse the bars themselves. Its not worth spending $40 on otherwise.

Are there any universities or colleges nearby? If they have a CNC machine, they can cut one for you, as long as you provide the drawings in CAD. You can't beat free!!! It's free where I'm at... Not sure about CA.

How about you have them made for me and I'll send my gf by your house? :)

You know more than me, I don't even know what a CAD drawing is. I just want my bars a hell of a lot lower and more of a kat style.

Did you try flipping your clip ons upside down? I think your clip ons have a rise so if you flip it over that oughta make the riding stance lower.

If the snow clears up, I'll head over to my friends shop and see if he can get things done ;).

Or you could just find some Katana clip ons. They need to be off an 82 or 83, not the newer (88-96) models.
The 82,83 use 37 mm fork legs, too.
