    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi guys i'm currently building a GS850 cafe racer. It now has a TR style racing seat. I've moved most of the electrics and have put a YTX12A- BS dry charged battery under the hump. Is that battery going to be ok? It was new and i was going to fit it to my Aprilia RSV but i sold it. I've seen one of those Shorai batterys for sale which is the right size but 18amp. I'm not very electrically minded - any advice would be appreciated as to keep the 12amp on or upgrade to the (lighter) 18amp Shorai.

The Shorai come in different amp hour ratings, and are much smaller which for racing you woudl be hard pressed to find an easier and cheaper way to drop 6-8 lbs of weight.

The amp-hour rating is mainly how much capacity the battery has, they are all still 12V batteries. There is a differnce in Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) between the two batteries below (210 v.s .130 amps)So for short starts you probably will not be able to tell the difference (unless your engine is much higher compression than stock). It just that as higher amp hours the battery will crank for longer before the cranking starts to slow from using up the avaliable charge.

This one easily cranked my 1166 CR=10.25:1 GS1100ED CCA=210amps, 730 grams, 14amp-hrs

This one has fewer cold cranking amps CCA=135, 560 grams, 9 amp-hrs

The LFX14L2-BS12 is quite small compared to stock so for the extra 170 grams it is alot more capacity.
