    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

(-) Battery lead to engine bolt snapped, now what?

I needed to replace my negative battery lead. When I was bolting it back into the bottom of the engine the tip of the bolt snapped. There is no hope of removing he broken part because its the very end of a 4" long bolt.
-Now What?
-Can I connect the negative lead anywhere else on the engine?

I suppose that could be good. Is more the bike frame than it is the engine case, and is a painted surface.
That threaded rod that seems to go thru the engine ... I dont really know that it makes good solid contact with the engine case.
That connection has to carry the full load of all the starter motor current.

You say it works. Okay.

If, sometime later, you have any problem with the starter or ignition, dont overlook suspecting this.

One thing... if it's like my 450E that's one of the crank case bolts and in that case I'd probably fix that in case it starts leaking.

Try a left hand drill bit and see if it gets that tip out, that's by far the easiest method if it works and you should be able to reach it with the drill.
 
I tried to use another bolt nearby the original bolt, on the bottom on the engine, but when I took this one out oil started to drip out so I just bolted it back in.
Was the original bolt this way too?
I havent noticed any oil leaking out of where the broken bolt used to go,
 
That's where a lot of Hondas from the era bolt on. Could be better by putting it engine side of the mount if you can get it in there.
 
would it be better to use the nearby bolt to the original-under the engine? Will oil leak if i try to use that one?
