    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Battery Voltage

How much voltage should a battery show once the Yuasa Battery Tender switches to 'storage ' mode? I am getting 13.1 (measured at the pig-tail connection that I have permanently hooked up to the battery) measured right after taking off the charger, and something like 12.8 (engine off) after a few days.....normal? My bike cranked a bit sluggishly after sitting for a week....battery is relatively new, bought in September, and stored inside for the winter, occasionally put on the tender till the storage light came on. The manual for the tender says it switches to storage made after charging to 14.2 volts....I have never gotten a 14 volt reading, even at the battery terminals.

12.8 volts is 100% charged.
 
A normal maintain rate is 13.1-13.2. A fully charged, good condition battery should show around 12.8 Sounds like all is OK. :-)

it going bad, here are my charging volts = 13.3v @ 1500-2000 rpms; 13.8-13.9 @ 3000-5000+ rpms.

Does this sound right?

The charging volts should be about 14.4 - 14.8 to ensure a fully charged battery. 13.8 - 13.9 volts will keep the battery from going dead, but the battery will not be fully charged and be subject to increased sulfate deposits on the plates. If the battery is not kept fully charged by a charger, the sulfation will gradually lower the capacity of the battery. It is best to use a "smart" microprocessor controlled battery charger for long battery life.

I would plug it in when the bike is not being used or overnight. This will keep the battery fully charged between rides.
