If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

belly pans?

Agemax

Forum Guru
any of you guys fitted a belly pan to your GS off a different bike? am thnking it would look good if its the right shape and fits well. cant seem to find anywhere that sells them new so was wondering if one off a different bike would fit and look ok. a bit of modding would be expected

Yeah, have a full set of lowers (aftermarket that came with the bike) for the Kat, look good but prefer the naked look ( Where are ya Zooks, you won't let that one slip by will you?) I did not have trouble with engine heat when they were fitted but air temps at the time only got to 35 C, also change engine oil and filter every 3000km so even if it was getting hot the oil didn't get much of a chance to breakdown. Sorry no pics as the lowers are on a rack in the shed at this time, when I can get at them I'll rest them against the Kat to give you some idea what they look like, cheers.

Hi Agemax, these are not belly pans I know but thought the full lowers might offer some ideas for you. They are an aftermarket item that was popular with Katana owners in the eighties, the UK may have had a version as well? Cheers.

ok here is what it looks like now, just bodged on. i have filled the old mounting holes, redrilled new front ones, just need to make up some mounting brackets for the rear then prep it properly and spray it

that looks no bad at all, eh.
I reckon a trip down the breakers might be in order tomorrow :)

What do you clean/paint your black pipes with, I just got a 650 with a set on?

Heres another, it came with the bike when I bought it I'll try to find out where its from

its a harris race pipe modified to fit.was black chrome but looked crap so i had it vapour blasted then used nearly 3 big cans of sperex uht spray paint on the whole system and baked it on in the oven

ok the belly pan is almost ready, white to match the rest of the bike but black inside to try and hide some of the uk ****e on the roads. my next dilemma is i want to fit a mesh grille over the holes at the front. question is, do i have a stealth black grille, a white one to go with the colour scheme or a chrome/alloy one to match the rest of the bling?
any help guys?

Pictures of the bike would be awesome. I've been debating this as well but I've had a hard time finding one that looks right.

ok here it is nearly finished, just want to paint the inside black. sprayed it with a "rattle can" diamond white with silver grille. am contemplating some sort of stripe to match the rest of the paintwork
