If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi again folks.

My 78 GS750E rebuild is almost finished. It currently has the original points ignition system, and mechanical advance unit.

I managed to make some savings on the rebuild budget, and i have decided to splash out on electronic ignition now, instead of later as i had intended.

I would appreciate your experiences and recomendations please.

Is there anything to be gained from `A' particular system on these bikes? For example, is it worthwhile going for a system with an `adjustable' electronic advance?

How about the `optical' trigger type like the Newtronic? http://www.motorcycle-ignition.com/motorcycle_ei_kit.htm

Thanks in advance.

I've had good luck with the Dyna "S" ignition on my '79 GS1000E.
Easy to install and set. Reliable. It uses the stock mechanical advancer. I also bought Dyna coils (3 ohm, green) to go with it.

My 79GS850 has points. I have added dyna coils & plug wires. I still have the points- been working fine for the last 14K miles. Oh I also have a dyna Ign in my spare parts that I bought a year ago

Thank for the replies.

I will probably go for tha Dyna `S', with coils.

Thanks again.

I used Newtronic on my 750 - works a treat! And excellent after-sales service too!

I have what you need. dynas ds3-2 motorcycle ignition. This is a couple months old and came off a running gs1100. This will fit 1977-81 Suzuki, 550/750/850/1000/1100 four cylinder and 1982-83 Suzuki, 1000, 1100. I would take $80 plus shipping. Might save you some cash.

Thanks Ryan, but i got a Dyna 2 at the weekend from a breakers. It is labeled as from a GS 1000.

It fits OK, but i cannot fire the bike up yet as i am still waiting for the exhaust flanges to turn up.

Thanks anyway.
