A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Black Exhaust

What are you "ED/ESD" people using to paint your exhausts? The two centre pipes on my ESD look like they've been painted flat black, and don't match the stock colour black colour.

Header paint from the parts store.
The secret is the prep. Read the instructions on the can or it wont last.

With the pipes removed I sanded mine with a D/A sander and course 80 grit paper. Tight areas sande by hand.
10 or 12 very light coats with the last couple of coats being very heavy. It took two cans for me.

I think he's talking about duplicating the black chrome stock finish....hard to do with paint. A high-gloss ceramic coat might be the closest thing that will last.:-k

Yes, I am. Can't get away with painting it to match? I want to put a collector plate on it so it has to be STOCK. Hmmm. That means I've got to send the whole shootin' match off to a place that will do it, as I seriously doubt there is anything locally. My friend got the headers for his Demon done in Calgary....:-k
Gotta' do some research. Thanks for your input, guys. :)

High gloss ceramic coat. Then sand out the "orange peel" then polish is about the only way to it and will still be "close" .The only real solutin is to find a nice set of black chrome pipes or find someone that actually does the black chrome. Good luck..

Find a classic car restorer in your area and talk to them about gloss ceramic exhaust coatings - Jaguars used it and restorers regularly get them redone.

Then there is the heat issue.. Does the phrase "pushing s##t up hill " ring a bell? lol sory to say

What heat issue? From the exhaust or for the plating? The kit comes with a heater and it's chrome plating so the heat from the exhaust should not be a problem.

Maybe you should stop a second and think is this really a helpful post or not? It really wasn't. Way to help answer a fellow GSer's question!
